How to Store and Protect Collectible Pins
Storage should minimize moisture, abrasion, pressure and unnecessary handling while keeping documentation with the object.
Editorial note: This site is independent. Product specifications, pricing, availability and guarantees can change; merchant claims should be checked on the seller’s current offer page.
Keep surfaces separated
Use appropriate inert sleeves, trays or mounts so metal edges and pin backs do not scratch neighboring objects.
Control the environment
Avoid damp storage, direct sunlight and large temperature swings. Exact conservation requirements vary by material and age.
Keep labels reversible
Do not permanently mark an artifact merely to catalog it. Maintain a separate inventory number and record.
